Who are we

The Maitreya Universal Education Project is a key element of Maitreya Project which will build a 500ft/152m bronze statue of the world's next Buddha, Maitreya, in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh state, northern India.

Maitreya means 'loving-kindness' and the statue, which will be designed to last for 1000 years, will be an inspiring symbol that will make an enduring contribution to world peace. The Project will also benefit the people of northern India by promoting economic development as well as high quality education and health care, including a hospital of international standards.

The Maitreya Universal Education Project operates under a charitable society registered in Patna, Bihar state and is funded solely by donations.
